Rapé is a complex blend of various Amazonian plants. The basis of every rapé blend is Aztec tobacco, also known as farmer's tobacco. This tobacco does not contain harmful substances such as tar, which are common in the West. Other ingredients include herbs, medicinal plants, seeds, and tree bark . Depending on the ingredients, rapé achieves different effects.

Rapé works on both the mental and physical levels . It helps to dissolve mentally entrenched thought patterns, frees the energy body of extraneous energies, and opens and harmonizes the chakras. On the physical level, rapé has a cleansing and detoxifying effect on the paranasal and frontal sinuses. Toxins are excreted along with mucus. Rapé is also increasingly being associated with detoxifying the pineal gland, although this has not yet been scientifically proven.
